Newly Built Superstore Brings 200 New Jobs

A $10 million Walmart SuperCenter opened in August 2014 in Robertsdale, Alabama, after a one-year construction project turned a 20-acre field into the 120,000 square-foot facility and surrounding parking lot.

walmartAfter the City of Robertsdale gave construction approval in August 2013, construction was immediately started on Baldwin County’s sixth Walmart. Formerly home to many small farms, as well as a popular beach destination, Baldwin County has also become a bedroom community of nearby Mobile.

Construction on the new Walmart got underway in the fall of 2013 with a John Deere 650 dozer and a Komatsu 200 excavator  that were used to strip and remove the job site’s topsoil.

Wheel loaders, backhoes, rollers and other earth moving and compaction equipment was utilized throughout the major construction of the Robertsdale Walmart, while various aerial and material lifts were used for interior work.

Finally, a sweeper with an enclosed cab kept the roadways around the construction site cleaned of debris and dirt and made overall cleanup easier.

When the Walmart opened in August 2014, it employed about 200 people, featured a 3,000-square-foot garden center, a grocery and pharmacy.

Neff Rental’s Mobile branch rented earth moving, aerial and compaction equipment to contractors on the Robertsdale SuperCenter, ensuring that the right equipment was delivered on time, and that 24/7 service was always available.
