It is a familiar scene for a sales representative to be sitting with a customer in their office and discussing their current or upcoming projects and the equipment they will need to complete the jobs. Whether inside a job site trailer, at an industrial plant, or in an office building, a visiting Neff Rental sales representative is equipped with the needed knowledge to provide customers with information about equipment availability and rates.
What could be better? Sharing stories with customers about personal interests: sports, hunting, fishing, ATVing, travel, family and other activities and interests that both the customer and sales rep share. For experienced Neff Rental representatives, understanding their customers’ business and renting equipment is important, but the relationship is also very important. Just another example of why “We Care More”.
At Neff Rental, we prefer to reward well-deserving and seasoned employees by promoting from within. If a sales rep position becomes available, a qualified coordinator can be promoted after they become familiar with and excel in Neff’s sales and customer service processes, have a thorough knowledge of our equipment and customers, and demonstrate a passion for their work.
When a coordinator steps into outside sales, they oftentimes meet customers that they have spoken to over the phone in person for the first time. Within a short time of his or her promotion, a sales rep has three days of intensive sales training at a Neff training facility. Training continues for several months with the branch manager mentoring the rep while visiting customers, as well as during sales calls debriefings, coaching and online training.
As outside sales representatives covering assigned geographic territories, they are more involved in their customers’ business – visiting job sites or offices to better understand their business and anticipating their future equipment rental needs. Sales reps update customer interactions using an Internet-connected computer in their vehicles, remotely accessing Neff Rental’s customer relationship management (CRM) system.
Sales rep’s responsibilities include:
- Prospecting for new business
- Supporting existing customers
- Penetrating existing customers by identifying all contacts who order equipment at each account and working towards winning each of these contacts over as a Neff Rental customer
- Working their territory by zones that can be covered in a single day, and planning and executing sales calls.
- Leveraging and supporting the team-selling environment by passing leads, completing tasks, introducing customers to the branch, and working with other Neff Rental sales professionals to more deeply penetrate customer accounts.
Preference is given to individuals with a degree. If not promoted from within, he or she must have a minimum of two years construction-related sales or rental industry experience, a valid driver’s license and must have computer proficiency, particularly in using Microsoft applications.
Branch sales representatives are critical to the successful operations of Neff Rental by helping to drive revenue into the branch, and maintaining and developing customer relationships.
As sales representatives are promoted into strategic account positions and management, openings become available at some of our current 65 branches in 14 states coast to coast; and we are accepting applications for future branch locations as well.
